Exhibit Timeline

This Medical Milestones in Dallas 1890 - 1975 exhibit presents a photographic history of milestones in medical care and education in Dallas, Texas. Each of the 60 photos is accompanied by a description of the milestone portrayed. The web exhibit is divided into six chronological sections, each covering about 10 to 20 years. Taken together, these photos document the transformation of medical care in Dallas over a span of 85 years.

A companion to this exhibit—a digital collection titled “Dallas Medical Images, 1890 - 1975”—contains around 300 additional photographs with descriptions further documenting the history of medicine in Dallas.

Unless otherwise noted, the images in the web exhibit and digital collection are from the Archives and History of Medicine collections in the UT Southwestern Health Sciences Digital Library and Learning Center.

We welcome feedback on the web exhibit and digital collection. If you have comments or questions or would like to add information, please contact the Library via email at archives@utsouthwestern.edu or by phone at 214-648-7675.

This project has been funded in whole or in part with Federal funds from the National Library of Medicine, National Institutes of Health, Department of Health and Human Services, under Contract No. N01-LM-6-3505 with the Houston Academy of Medicine—Texas Medical Center Library.
