University of Dallas Medical Department on Main Street
Title
University of Dallas Medical Department on Main Street
Subject
Schools, Medical--history; Faculty, Medical; Hospital Design and Construction
Description
In 1900, the University of Dallas Medical Department opened at 314 Main Street with a faculty of 25, in a building which had formerly housed a synagogue. The name was somewhat misleading, since the Medical Department was the entire University. The school offered a two-year program, customary at the time. Dr. Charles M. Rosser was a driving force behind the school, as well as several other efforts to improve medical care in Dallas.
